This is the fairy penguin but also called the blue penguin. they are the smallest penguins in the world as they grow only between 36cm to 43cm tall but don't be fooled. they, while small have a mighty dragons cry because why not. and as expected of their strageness they have a Austrailia area code mainly southern Austrailia but despite that they are still a very wholesome animal.
These eel looking fish are the lung fish, found in river in south and west Africa growing between 6 1/2 too 40 inches long. they may not seem special besides their name but the get that name for a reason. first off they have the parts to breath air which is special on it's own already but there's more. when drought comes and dries up rivers what this fish does is wrap itself in a cocoon of mucus which while gross is affective and while inside that cocoon, it eats the mucel in it's tail for nutrients while waiting for the time to come out. freaky but people have been hunting them by diggin up their slimy cocoons so it lest we can benifet from natures strange surviving tatics.
yes it looks weird but thats how it hunts but we'll get into that later. for now know that, thats a ribbon worm found in north of the atlantic and pasific ocean. while only 1 1/2 inches in width some can get to about 100 feet long though unlikely. now to address the obvious, that white thing is a extention of it's digetive system and it uses that to catch and eat prey like others worms and crustation. but something of note is they can have anxiaty like reaction and out of water they litteraly break apart so leave it alone and it won't freak you out.
well we need some plant on this list so heres the biggest and one of the most fowl smelling flowers in the world the corpes flower also known as raffesia . note there are 2 flowers called the corpes flower but we are talking about the parasitic one. anyway these flowers can grow to 3 feet wide,found in indonesia, and has a terrible smell but for a reason. you know that most flowers smell sweet to attract things like bees, well raffesia took this idea but works with flies insted, explaning the horrid smell. know you may be wounding how it gets this big. well because it is a paracite. it has no roots so inste it grows and steals water and nutrition from grape vines which have lots of water and for a big plants it needs lots of water. notibly this plant also steals DNA from the grape vine. our best guess as to why it does this is so it makes it that the plant doesn't fight of the plant and looks like another part of the plant to the immuin system as raffesia is a type of paracite that depends on its host to live.
you kind had to know that this was comeing as the platypus is a text book example of strange life. found in the place of crazy dangers, Austrailia. their are so many things odd about them so lests go down the list. it's one of only 2 monotreams which if you wounder what the other one is its the echidna, they are one of the only mammales to lay eggs, they sweat out their milk, the males have a venomus stinger, they can sence electrical pulses to hunt prey like sharks, they store fat in their tails like lizards, they don't have teeth or a stoumach, they glow in blacklight, and they look like a combo of a duck and a beaver. it's no wounder why this thing confused scientisets and people when it was first found as it is the appidamy of weird.
Yes they are adorable,and yes they are real. These cuties are Leaf sheep, though they aren't related to sheep. They're a type of sea slug called sacglossan sea slug and are only a 1/4 of a inch or 5mm long so they small too. Though despit their cuteness there is something more special about them. The greeness in their back is chloroplast. Yes the main thing in plants that makes them special by photosynthisising to make energy on their own. Though first off leaf sheep get this from the plants they eat and second off they can't live of photosynthis. They still need to eat and can only live about have a year without food but it is still very cute and cool.
This gross buddy is the Devils fingers fungus. A long name for a disturbing fungi. Native to no ones suprise, Austrailia they have spread all over the world due too their spore hiching a ride on transporting ships. So it is not impossible to maybe find one in your back yard. But be carful if one does fing their way into your yard. these things have a egg like thing on the surface while the rest of the fungi is under ground. Then when the time is right, the built up compact fruit of the fungi exploeds out of its egg like caseing. The outside of its fruit is coverd in a brown like goop that stinks. That goop contains its spores and goes the same stratage of Raffesia, as in they attract flies to polloniet then insted of the tipical bees, butterflies, and beetals. The flies eat this goop and pass on its spore.There are other fungi that do this to and their called stinkhorns. And thats why you got to, if seen in your back yard or garden removed by profesinals as it can really ruin gardins.
Meet the Moutian viscacha aka the sensai rabbit. Though ironically it isn't related to rabbits, its closest relitive is actually chinchilas belive it or not. They're found in the Andes mountians near Peru,Chile, and Argentina. they live in altituds as high as 5,000 meters (16,000 feet) so these little guys are hard to find. but with all of that they live mostly chill lives... mostly. Males fight over females by trying to throw the other over the cliff side to show that they don't fear whats below. Which is why theres more females then males. even with their extrem lives they have a simple diet of mostly grass and moss. Which with all of that makes it really seem like they have all of lifes answers to life.
This creep freind of ours here is the shoebill stork. Though ironically these guys aren't storks, instad they are closer to pelicans. With the abilty to grow about 5 feet tall and with a 8 foot wingspan they are found in Africa, specifically in southern Sudan, north Uganda and Tanzania wetlands, and Bangweulu swamp of north Zambia. And don't let their stare make you think that thats all they have for intimidation. First off they can extand something that at first looks like their spine but actually is them inverting their pouches to yawn. Second off these guys can kill crocodiles and they decapatate their prey like fish,snakes, and small mammales. Basically by lunging at its prey and only having its head stick out of its mouth before chomping down leaving the head flying. Even withall of that, they are actually really nice to humans and even lets people near their nests. So even the scary ones with a sketchy background can be nice I guess.
No this bird is not on drug or saw a ghost. this is a potoo bird found in nothern and centerl South America. Theys litte creepy birds are known to not ony have a ominous call and have heavely diolated eyes due to being nocturnal animals, but during the day wen they sleep they stand and sleep on tree stumps that fit them. They do this so they camoflauge with the tree stump. If you couldn't tell thir beaks look very different copared to other birds beaks. Thhs is used for quickly gulping bugs, such as moths that they eat. Over all cute and creepy for a bird.
